G’day, hello and welcome to my web space!
It’s great to be a part of this global community that has a passion for Didgeridoo playing.
I’ve lived in Central Australia now for over 25 years. I am literally thousands of miles away from most of you! Suddenly I am able to connect with everyone from the past, present and I now look forward to hearing from those in the future!
Some of you may have been redirected to this web page from my AndrewLangford.com website. In the name of keeping things simple I have decided to relocate information about me to this page and to use The Sounds of Starlight Theatre Blog to update you on my general activities. We’ve even got an “Ask Andrew Langford” section on the blog now so you can now officially ask me anything you like about playing the didgeridoo, my performances and recordings... in fact, whatever you like!
I would also encourage you to join the Sounds of Starlight
Theatre mailing list if you are interested in being updated on free
downloads, didgeridoo playing tips, exclusive “members only” special
deals and much more. Just look over to the right and you’ll see the
signup box where you can join for free.
I look forward to sharing my journey with you and to also hearing
your stories and experiences with this great ancient instrument.
Thank you for dropping by, I am grateful for your support.
Cheers for now,
Andrew Langford
About Andrew Langford
Andrew Langford’s interest in the didgeridoo goes back to his childhood when Australian artist and television personality Rolf Harris introduced the instrument to the world.
Today, Andrew is recognised internationally as a major exponent and interpreter of the didgeridoo. The rhythmic quality of his playing and his extensive knowledge of the history and origins of this unique instrument bring together an unforgettable performance.
In 1996 Andrew founded the Sounds of Starlight Theatre in Alice Springs where he still regularly thrills audiences from all over the world with
The Didgeridoo Show Outback - a spectacular multi-media show that conjures up the landscapes of the desert.
Andrew evokes the heart of Australia’s Red Centre. Audiences are captivated by the sounds and accompanying imagery during the performance as the didgeridoo creates the pulse of life itself.
Andrew’s inspiration for the Sounds of Starlight Theatre originated from the thousands of international visitors he met each year through his art gallery in the Todd Mall, and their insatiable curiosity to learn more about Aboriginal arts and culture, and in particular the didgeridoo.
His artistic foresight and energetic determination transformed his vision into reality and his dream was realised. Now the Sounds of Starlight Theatre is the home of the very popular “
The Didgeridoo Show Outback”.
Andrew has travelled extensively within the Northern Territory working as a horticultural adviser on cattle stations and Aboriginal communities. It was here that his love affair with the didgeridoo began.
He worked closely with traditional Aboriginal people who gave him all the insight and encouragement he needed to perfect his skills in playing the instrument.

In Andrew’s hands, however, the didgeridoo is not an ethnic curiosity but a fully-fledged member of the modern orchestra that can mix with other instruments and make music of many styles.
He has developed the versatility of the didgeridoo so that it can combine with classical instruments or make exciting contemporary music.
Corporate functions and events are no stranger to Andrew. In 2004 he was invited to play at the Australian Embassy in Paris, France and during his six week European trip also performed in Germany as well as staging didgeridoo workshops in England and Scotland.
In 2006 was again invited to Germany where he played at the Australian Embassy in Berlin for the Australia Day celebrations.
Andrew has toured extensively throughout Europe, the United Kingdom and USA. His music has been used in BBC documentaries and lifestyle programs.
Currently his music is being used to compliment French lecturer Jean Charbonneau’s tour of France presenting Australia.
